Arvon winner Sian Hughes joins Salt and news of The Arvon International Poetry Competition 2008

Sian Hughes winner of the 2006 International Poetry Competition is joining Salt with her book The Missing, to be published in the Spring of 2009.

Arvon International Poetry Competition

The Arvon International Poetry Competition 2008 is open until August 15th. Submit poems online or through the post. With ?11,000 worth of prizes, this is one of the largest poetry prizes in the UK for single poems. This year?s judges are UK?s Poet Laureate Andrew Motion, Alice Oswald and Moniza Alvi. The entry fee is ?6 and the Classic FM First Prize is ?5,000 and there are six more prizes too. This year sees a new prize ? the Ted Hughes Environmental Poetry Prize for the best poem that deals with the environment, in the broadest sense. Deadline for entries is 15th August 2008 at 5pm.
