Not to be sniffed at

Sarah Salway’s short story collection Leading the Dance was one of my best reads of 2007, as was The Littlest Hitler by Ryan Boudinot (the latter possibly my favourite collection ever). This year it has taken me till November to find another to match them and in comes in the (rectangular) shape of
The Scent of Cinnamon
by Charles Lambert.

Lambert is the author of Little Monsters, an impressive debut novel which I enjoyed and reviewed a few months back. Cinnamon is even better. Not only that, it is better than most of the other novels I have read this year as well.
